An Expert Is Someone Who Has Put In 10,000 Hours
Well, this is what my tips are all about today, how to know if the book idea you are planning to write has a chance to stand-out and sell. After all, even if it’s the tiniest of markets it will have to compete for proper attention in this hi-tech world? For your book to be able to compete in a world like ours today, you must target a niche market (people to sell your book to) interested in your book.
Add to your skills here. Do some research of on-line book reviews. See the reviews on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and related sites. This will help you to pick up ideas of what book reviews should contain. At a minimum, include the book title, author’s name, publisher (traditional or Indie-published) and the type of book, whether it is hardback, paperback or eBook. Sometimes you may want to include the price of the book if that is relevant. One rule to remember: new releases must be reviewed within the first two months after they are released. Reviews within the first two weeks are generally greatly desired.
Have a look at the types of projects the Ghost Writer has worked on in the past. Evaluate how the writer’s skills and techniques might fit with your needs. Look for someone who demonstrates excellent language and grammar skills, but also an eye for structure and an ear for voice. Writing a book is not the same thing as writing a sentence — make sure you find someone who is capable of the rigours of a larger project.
Hone Your Authentic Signature Style. One of the key problems that I encountered early on was that I tried to use business models and strategies that didn’t feature my strengths. Some of the models I used actually set me up for failure! It’s not that there was anything wrong with the model; it just didn’t create an environment where my brilliance – my natural gifts and talents – could shine. As your confidence and clarity increase, your authentic signature style becomes apparent. It’s not only what you deliver that clients want, it’s who you are!
Experience or knowledge about your business. While a good writer may be able to write about anything, you’ll get better articles from a writer that is familiar with your business’ niche.
Listen to the writer before you hire. Whether you are communicating with the writer via phone, Skype or e-mail, make sure you’re listening to or reading what the writer says. If the writer doesn’t use correct English or grammar in those communications, can you trust that you’re going to get a quality written product that’s grammatically correct?
A website writer will convey the right message to the reader. Even more important than just attracting the spiders from Google are keeping your visitor on your page. That’s right. Not much more than 20% of what’s on your page is actually read or skimmed over. You want those first words to be compelling. You want to keep them there. You didn’t build your website for them to close right away, did you? A writer simply knows how to write well, and convey the essence of your website’s message in such a way as that it’s interesting, fun to read, and capable of keeping your visitors on your page.
REALITY TWO: Writing can be lonely. Most days it’s you and the page, or you and the computer screen, or if you’ve got writer’s block it’s just you. Things can get pretty silent – which many writers enjoy. But what if you don’t? If you’re not the kind of person who works well alone, or has a hard time self motivating it’s going to be tough. This is particularly true in the beginning stages before you get a publisher or a production. How do you move yourself and your work forward?
A fast way to build your custom writing t shirts status is to teach on your topic. This can be done in person, or on the phone. When you teach on a topic, you are almost automatically seen as an expert on the topic. Plus, teaching classes or workshops can be another way to meet more people, add to your contact list, and develop another revenue stream, all at the same time.
Once the book is printed, the fun begins! You’ll want to schedule a launch party or book signing event where you’ll invite all of your friends, family, colleagues and even the media. Plan out the event with an agenda and be sure to record portions in five minute segments to include on your site. People love videos! You might event want to start your own YouTube channel to put your videos and spend time marketing your channel to your target audience, but make sure you have links going back to your site.
